February 20, 2010 – 10:55 ama doctor
a military officer
a lawyer
an engineer
a scientist
I know there is more to love than career, really I am asking about your dream husband. You may list your own pick, too.

I married a law student. I highly recommend it as they grow up to become lawyers, lol!
But seriously, I do think there is something to be said for people like us who got married before either had “made it”. When two people go through the “hungry years” together they learn how to support one another and still be authentic and vulnerable with each other – no matter how big they get later on.
When his success is not just something you benefit from but something that you actively participate in, you get to share achievements in a way that is not only deeply fulfilling but deeply bonding and unifying as well.
You learn how to stand by your man…in good times and in bad…for richer or for poorer…and then you have kids and you teach them that no matter what profession they choose or marry, what really matters most is WHO they are and WHO they marry…
Because a doctor can be a butcher…
A military officer can be a dictator…
A laywer can be a liar…
An engineer can be a robot…
A scientist can be hypothetical…
But a man of honor and integrity will always be who and what he is…whether he is sweeping floors or building spaceships. So marry one of those and you won’t go wrong.

A man should be incredibly passionate about his line of work, skilled at what he does, knowledgeable about it, excellent at it. Nothing is more unattractive careerwise than a man who will just work any job because he has no passion. A guy was interested in me and there was no chemistry between us, but one of the things I couldn’t stand was the fact that he didn’t seem to have much drive career-wise. He had given up on pursuing his dreams. He had settled for a less-than life. He was fine with just working a boring old job to pay the bills. He had stopped trying. How in the world would he be able to support me and my dreams – and I have many – when he doesn’t even go with his own dreams?
All that being said, I would have to say musician. And I don’t mean a “rock star.”
Scientist is not too shabby.
Neurologist could be cool.

Engineer. Most of the rest all have other emotional comitments. Scientists don’t get a huge salary. Military officer I have tried and don’t fancy again.

I can only pick one? All are ideal for a life partner. An engineer would be my first choice though!!
