The National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education’s (NCATE) website has the entire US’ list of colleges with teaching programs and descriptions of each college and their program. Go to that webpage and check it out.

Virtually any good solid state school will prepare you to teach high school. You don’t need an Ivy League education, but you do need a solid background in both education and the language arts. It would help to know what state you live in.
Edit: U.S. News & World Report publishes rankings of education programs every year. Here are their 2007 rankings for secondary education:
1. Michigan State
2. UW-Madison
3. Stanford
4. Ohio State
5. UGA
6. Columbia
7. UVA
8. UI-Urbana-Champaign
9. IU-Bloomington
10. UMich-Ann Arbor
There ought to be new rankings out for 2008, though. And don’t worry if the school you like isn’t on this list–it’s not vital to go to a top 10 school!
Second edit: If you live in New York, NYU, Cornell, and Syracuse are also very good

Your guidance counselor or your local library would be a good place to start. Most universities have majors in English. You can even start out @ your community college and take the basic core classes ( math, English, history) and transfer if your funds are low. But please ask your guidance counselor for help.
