What Is The Best Way To Find Out What Career I Want To Pursue In University, After High School?

February 9, 2010 – 4:52 am

my marks are all fine, and i have a passion for many subjects.
however, my parents have brought me up with the opinion that being a doctor or lawyer were the only 2 logical options out there. However, I don’t want to blindly do either and realize that they weren’t meant for me.
At the same time, i’m unsure of what careers out there would best suit me! How do i decide? I have one more year before university, and i need to start researching.
thanks!

  2. I would visit the high school guidance counselor, they would be able to give you an assessment test that would show based on many different criteria, what would be a good suited career for you.

  3. Do what you love to do… you can make money in anything as long as you have a passion for it. If you hate your job you aren’t going to put your very best into it making it very hard to move up and succeed. You will figure it out… for some people they go half their lives doing things they hate until they figure out what was meant for them.

  4. Go to http://www.collegeset.com/ do a search for “free career testing” it will give some great leads.
    Hope this helps!

  6. what grade are you in? you usually have to take a careers class in grade 10 (depends on the school board you live in). if you are longer than that you still probably don’t need a definate answer, http://www.careercruising.com is a great website but you need a membership (usuallly through you schooL) check and see if you school has one….also not sure if it works in US…i think it is canadian
