What Is The Best Way To Explain A Year Absence From Employment?

December 25, 2009 – 2:56 am

I have decided it’s time to go back to work and I have an interview scheduled with a very beefy resumé to back me up. However, I have been on a close to 1 year sabbatical spending time with family and living life for a while. What is the best way to explain this if asked in an interview about the gap between employment?

  2. just tell them the truth. Tell them you saved up enough money to live off of for a year so that you could spend a year just enjoying your family. A year off from employment isn’t a big deal if you have a valid excuse. They just want to make sure you weren’t in jail or something during that time.

  3. You don thave to answer that question I dont think. But if you do answer just say you were spending time with family or moved out of state or something for a year. Just dont use a really bad excuse because then they might catch onto your past years laziness.
    Good Luck…!!!
