What Is A Succesful Music Career That I Can Give My Character?
February 18, 2010 – 4:52 amHe is 29, and successfully rich. I want this character to be a lyricist but as a part time job. I need to find a career, which makes him close to famous rock bands (which explains his parting habits and drug addictions) But i don’t want him to be a rock star ( a little too corny for a book).
So please, i need a MUSIC job that will make this character rich, and is plausible with his age. (29)
Thank You!

A&R representative for a record label… A coked up A&R representative is about as cliche as a girlfriend managing her boyfriend’s band. Can’t go wrong. Did that job for many years – happy to be a resource.
As he is a lyricist he could be a creative executive at a music publisher and / or just a signed writer who co-writes a great deal through his relationships at a publishing company.

A lyricist sounds good to me.
Although, if you want him to be a slimy sort of character, an agent to a rock star could work.
Or, he might make custom guitars for rock stars which would bring in some big bucks.
He could also be part of the road crew, that sets up and takes down the stage and all the gimmicks before and after a concert, but that probably wouldn’t make him rich.
He might be a record producer.
A graphic artist who designs album.cd covers.
