What Can I Do, Or Where Can I Go To Find Some Sort Of An Idea To What Career I Want To Have In Life?
January 15, 2010 – 4:52 pmI’m in college, yet like many others my major is “undecided.” Do you guys know where I can find some sort of inspiration to what I want to achieve in life?

Oh I went through this forever. The thing is that you always feel like everyone else knows and why can’t you just figure it out. But the fact is half the people that claim they know, are just pretending they know what they want to do with their lives b/c it’s scary to not know. I wish someone would have just told me, IT’S OKAY TO NOT KNOW!

You have alot of options to figure it out:
1)You could take a test. Try going to your college counselor’s office or career center. They have tests that can sum up what you want in a job and give you options. Like the Myers-Briggs
2)Or you could take time off school and try something new like traveling or a new job.
3) You could look for an mentor who is doing a job that you might enjoy and talk to them.
4) You could shadow someone or many people who are doing a job you might like and this will give you some kind of idea.
5) You can take classes aimlessly until something sparks your interest.
6) You can volunteer. It’s free and you might come across something you like.
7) Talk to some of your profs in classes you enjoy
9) Brainstorm by making lists of what you enjoy in a job and what you hate
I personally did all of these and then took 2 years off university to figure it out. And now I’m graduating this summer. You’ll figure it out eventually. Most people end up in a job unrelated to their degree anyways. So don’t stress too much. Just follow your interests.
