But a friend of mine keeps getting fired from jobs bc of personality conflicts but then keeps getting rehired in the same field.

The dilemma: I’m looking for a completely new career away from IT, while making a lateral salary transfer from the beginning of my new career. For many various reasons, I need/want something close to the same salary. As I’ve taken many many years to get here, my income has been complimentary to my experience. I’ve found myself in big trouble, as I’ve focused my skills entirely into IT and my resume is not “sellable” outside of IT. I’m in a rut and I think the only way out is to take a substantial pay cut.
