How Do You Find The Career That Makes You Happy?

January 4, 2010 – 10:52 am

I am 21 years old and I am stuck. I don’t know where to go as far as a career. There are so many things that I like to do but I don’t know what to do. How do you choose the right career or the career that will make you happy?

  2. that is a million dollar question sweetie! be smart and pick what intrests you the best and not what is necessarily going to make you the most money. Because after a while it doesn’t matter how much you make if you hate your career, you will eventually burn out and will probably undergo a career change. Which accounts to starting over, I am in that process right now as we speak!

  4. Do something that makes you the most happy. Try your hand at different things first then choose.

  5. I would say to think of the thing that makes you the most happy and/or content. Then go into a field that is related to that.
(However, contrary to popular belief, happiness and satisfaction isn’t everything when it comes to a job. Be sure to pick one that will pay enough to give you financial security. If you don’t, you might be happy, but you’ll be poor).

  6. Go to tickle.com and take some of their tests to see what you like and what your strengths and weaknesses are. Think about the classes you took, that you really were the most interested in. Volunteer if possible, in something you might like to do. Ask lots of people what their jobs really are like.
What do you like to do even when you’re not paid to do it? Finally, is there anything that, if anyone said you would never be allowed to do again, you would be miserable, or a dream you would never be able to tell anyone you really want to do?
You’ll find the answer there. Good luck.

  8. You have to keep searching and dare not trying new ones until one day you will find a career which both right and makes you happy. You are still young, the road is still long for you and the best is yet to happen.
    good luck!

  9. Pick something that you enjoy doing the most. If you have a favorite hobby that you like doing, you could turn that into your career!

  10. After receiving a Masters in poetry I hardly had an easy time finding a job; it took me a year! Even had to move back in with my parents for a bit (you can never go home again, trust me). But … I literally fell into my current job and love it. I am a Teen Services Librarian at a small library and it is a fun and rewarding career choice. You get to be creative and help people … and I think I have helped remove some angst from the stressful lives of some of my teens. I plan on getting an MLS very soon!
Look into it … fun stuff, especially if you like books and being creative.
