How Do I Find What Career Would Be Best For Me As I Have Many Interests?
January 10, 2010 – 10:54 amI’m 40 yrs old and disabled. I’m going to college but I have found that my field I was going to major in will require me to work until I am 75 to retire. I just want to find a very well paying job that I can retire on at age 55-60. My interests are music and the recording industry, criminal justice, hunting and fishing.

This is a free web site that you answer a questionaire and it suggests fields based on your interests, knowledge, skills, and abilities. Also, it has information about occupations. It is very good.

A career is based on four things:
- your talent: what you do better than other people
- the world’s needs: what solution you can provide, to help solve a problem or need experienced by other people
- your passion: what you like to do
- your sense of purpose: what gives you a sense of contributing to a better world
Perhaps the key decision in your case will involve focusing on one talent or passion, and pursuing that one.
A good book I recommend is What Color is Your Parachute, to find out more about your unique skills and how they can be used by companies or people.
Good luck!
