Does Anyone Know Of A Good Career In The Outdoors That Doesn’t Require A College Education?

February 27, 2010 – 10:51 pm

I’m looking for a career in the outdoors. Preferably somewhere in the mountains of California, but I don’t have a college education in the field. I like to volunteer my time when I can to help restore trails in order to keep them open for anyone that wants to see the beautiful outdoors. It is something that I love to do, and I’d like to find a career along those lines in preserving the outdoors.
Thank you,

  2. Park Ranger? Professional Fisherman? You can try to film Big Foot. Serial Killer?
Just kidding. I would never suggest someone try to film big foot.

  3. Landscaping. Gardening.
I recommend going to college so you’ll be able to get a better paying job and be able to move up. You can do it without but it’ll be harder.

  4. Call the Sierra Club and the Nature Conservancy, both of them are ecological groups and you don’t need a degree. Tell them you are interested in becoming a ranger (or whatever).
