Do You Find That The Career You Have Chosen No Longer Appeals To You?

January 2, 2010 – 10:53 pm

I’ve been in my career for 20 years and have always enjoyed what I did, but know I find that the whole field I work in no longer appeals to me. I wish I had gotten a degree in a total different field. Anyone else?

  2. I worked in the Transportation Field for a while, I realized I hated it. Now I am seeking a degree in Psychology. I have a semester to go. Yahoo Answers has not only been a kick, but has been a help in finding out what makes some of us tick.
Good luck in you future endeavors.

  3. Unfortunately, I have the same problem and am online looking for positions right now. I don’t have a degree in anything but started going to college three years ago. It seems as if I’ll never find anything else I’m qualified for, very depressing.

  5. Yes. I got my degree in education and after that decided I didn’t really want to teach anymore. Now I regret not going for something else or doing a dual major.

  8. I believe that’s only a normal feeling because you’ve been at your job for 20 years. I get bored with work real easy… less than a year and I want to do something else. But it’s going to be like that wherever you are… it’s just the repetition of the job I think that makes it unbearable.

  9. Yeah I studied 4 years in college just to find out that I really didn’t like it after only 6 months work. I really want to be a teacher, unfortunately I still have a huge debt for those years in college and I don’t want to add to it. Yeah I wish I had chosen to be a teacher, then I wouldn’t have to go through an extra 3-4 years on school again.

  10. YES !!!! Also, I want people who reside in the North-East region (PA/DE/Westborough/etc) to know: DO NOT WORK FOR PFPC Global Investment Services,….DO NOT FALL for any of their recruiting ploys. They waaaaay underpay you, waaaaay overwork you, and most of their lower managements don’t have a clue on how to run a department….no people-skill whatsoever (especially the ones in Delaware)….I know because I used to work for them.
